Come down on Saturday June 25th and sail with us while the annual RI Air Show is happening at Quonset Point. We have always been unable to launch at our usual location at Compass Rose Beach during the Air Show weekend. This year, with Goddard Park as a new launch area for us, we can head out of Greenwich Bay and sail in Narragansett Bay while the Air Show is going on. We will plan to be there fairly early if the weather forecast is decent and this is one weekend that the Goddard Park beach area will fill up quickly and parking might be tight. So for best access, try to arrive by 10AM. Even on the water, they will keep all boats away from the immediate area surrounding Quonset while the Air Show is in progress. But, the planes will be visible from all over the bay, so it should be pretty spectacular to be out there. The highlight of the 2011 show will be the US Navy Blue Angels.
The Red Bull Air Force and Red Bull Aerobatic Helicopter are also scheduled to perform along with a number of other performers.
There will be some 448 grilling going on at some point during the day, depending on wind conditions and who is there just hanging around on the beach to help out with the cooking. Event fee is $5 per person. Come down and check out the sights!
